FSU v UF

The Noles played a good game, but in the end, the Gators won. I was confused the whole game. AFter a season of going to Gator games and having R narrate everything, it was hard to switch back to my old alma mater. Next year, I'm going to wear both colors.

Ropes Course

This past weekend, the Jr League Provisional class did a ropes course in Micanopy. I did a ropes course for the MBA program back in January, but this time it was different. We could not have asked for a better day - it was warm and clear with a cool breeze. The last time I was to do the ropes course, it was terrible outside so we were limited to more inside activities.

The hardest obstacle was the ladder. It was about 30 feet high, with each beam about 10 ft long and 4ft apart from each other. Somehow, my partner D helped get me all the way yup to the top. I didn't think I was going to be scared, but as soon as I was up, BAM. I was scared. When we touched down to the ground, I just started to bawl. I felt kind of stupid at first, but it passed as I realized what we had done. It helped that I wasn't the only one who cried too.

Today, every bone and muscle in my body still hurts.

BUT

We still did our run this morning! We did the short 1.5 mi loop but set a faster pace and kept it most of the way. I feel like I've hit a plateau so I tried to push it this morning. My new goal is to do the 2.5 mi loop in the time we're doing the 1.5 mi loop. I think that's an obtainable goal by the wedding. I really want to do a 10k in the spring sometime. That'll be my next goal.

The Fish Whisperer in Woods and Water

A couple weekends ago, we went fishing with a friend and his dad in Tarpon Springs. R made sure to bring his camera. He was convinced one of us would strike a money pose worthy enough to submit to his favorite periodical about hunting and fishing.

We had not one, not two, but three worthy pictures to submit. In the submission, R describes the rigs we were using and what we were catching. That day, almost every cast got something - a fish or a big bite. This went on for about 4 hours. Mostly, we caught some big Spanish Macs, but N landed a nice blue tipped Grouper. (My first cast out and I caught the biggest Mac of the day.)

So, R e-mailed the pictures in and got a response! We're going to be in an upcoming issue of Woods and Water. You can pick them up at most gas stations in North Central Florida.

It was a real nice day and we had a lot of fun on the water.

Signed,

The Fish Whisperer

The Big Lebowski

We named our team The Split Masters. My handicap was not as high as last week. I think that means I'm making improvements! I'm embarassed to admit to all the gutterballs, but sometimes - just sometimes - I can make a Turkey.

5k

We ran a 5k this weekend.

You heard right - a 5k.

It's a couple days since it happened and my body is still a little sore. The last several weeks, we've been running 1.5 miles pretty consistently. One day last week, we upped it to 2.5mi in preparation for Saturday.

Nothing could have prepared me for the 5k. And I mean nothing.

I don't know what it was - having to run at 7am on a Saturday, the first mountain 1 mi in, the second swell about a 1/2 mi later, or the third hill before 3mi that did it, but I AM SORE!

I ran almost the entire way. The last hill (around 2.75mi) I walked up. My time was about 46 minutes. I know I'm slow, but hey - I ran a 5k while you were still sleeping or even eating pancakes.

Prenspace E-mail

My prenspace e-mail has been down for a little while. I have it all straightened out now. You shouldn’t get anything bounced back to you anymore!

Nerd Score

64 Days and counting

The wedding is 64 days away. The invitations are going out this weekend and a month of parties begins. If you haven't made your reservations, you should do it soon!

I am in a bowling league. Yes, you read that correctly. A. Bowling. League. Some kids at R's work started one and so what the hey? My next 12 wednesdays will be spent at the bowling alley. He got one of the best scores of the night - 224 (I know you're jealous). I, on the other hand, probably got THE worst score of the night. But hey, no one plays that bad on purpose. I was just trying to get a better handicap.

That's at least what I'm telling myself anyways..
